Ensure that your passport is up-to-date and will remain valid for at least six months beyond your planned departure date from Italy. This is a crucial requirement to enter the country. Additionally, it’s advisable to check with the Italian embassy or consulate in your home country for any specific entry requirements or visa obligations based on your nationality. Remember to keep your passport safe during your trip and consider making copies or storing digital versions in case of loss or theft. Your passport is not only your key to discovering the beauty of Italy but also an essential document to ensure a smooth and enjoyable travel experience.

Travel Requirements

Starting in 2025, U.S. passport holders planning to explore Europe will need to apply for authorization through the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) before their visit. ETIAS authorization involves a small fee, typically around €7 (approximately $8 USD), and can be obtained quickly online. Please check the latest updates and apply for ETIAS in advance to ensure a seamless journey. It's advisable to apply for ETIAS as soon as possible and no later than 1 month prior to travel to ensure approval in time for your journey. Once granted, ETIAS authorization is valid for multiple entries over a period of three years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.

The nearest major airport to Ravello is Naples International Airport (NAP). There are a few airlines that offer direct flights from NY to Naples and most major U.S. cities offer flights to Naples, typically with one stop in a major European hub such as London, Paris, or Rome.

Getting Around

The best way to explore Ravello is on foot. The town is small and very walkable. If you choose to explore other towns on the Amalfi Coast during your stay, we’ve listed some suggested modes of transportation below.

We strongly advise AGAINST renting a car. Ravello is a small pedestrian town and the Amalfi Coast in general has very limited parking. We recommend using a private car service, taxi or bus instead.

There are no Ubers or Lyfts in Amalfi. If you plan to travel around the Amalfi Coast or other parts of Italy before or after the wedding, we recommend hiring a car service well in advance. We use Servicevill - you can email them at kelseykumesh@servicevill.com to arrange any transportation needs. We recommend booking your drivers as soon as possible.

We selected Villa La Rondinaia for our wedding venue. Nick-named, The Swallow’s Nest, La Rondinaia is nestled in the charming cliffside town of Ravello, Italy. Perched high above the azure waters of the Amalfi Coast, this historic villa offers unparalleled views of the Mediterranean Sea and the rugged coastline below.

Originally built as a private residence in the 18th century, Villa La Rondinaia has welcomed nobility, artists, and distinguished guests throughout its storied past. The villa was home to acclaimed writer, Gore Vidal for 33 years. Its elegant architecture and timeless beauty have made it a beloved landmark in Ravello, attracting visitors from around the world.

As you enter the grounds of Villa La Rondinaia, you are greeted by lush gardens filled with vibrant flowers, ancient olive trees, and fragrant citrus groves.

The villa itself is a masterpiece of Italian architecture, featuring elegant facades, graceful arches, and terracotta roofs that blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Steeped in history and charm, each corner of the villa tells a story, from the grand ballroom adorned with frescoes to the intimate courtyards perfect for a romantic ceremony or reception under the stars.

The best pizza in all of Ravello. Great for a casual lunch/dinner.

Restaurant Santa Caterina

Just a short 20 minute taxi ride down to Amalfi, this high-end restaurant located in the famous Santa Caterina hotel is a very lovely dining experience.

Rossellinis

This 1 Michelin star restaurant located at Palazzo Avino is a must for a foodie. It’s very pricey but a must for a one time visit. They also have a tasting menu.

Belmond Caruso

Arguably the best hotel in Ravello with stunning dining experiences as well. For an elevated dinner, try Ristorante Belvedere.

Il Flauto Di Pan

This beautiful restaurant located at Villa Cimbrone is another high-end dining experience. It is a special occasion spot with jaw-dropping views and Michelin star food

A must visit for an authentic taste of local cuisine in a warm and inviting setting. Requires a short car ride.

The hike from Ravello to Amalfi typically takes around 2 to 2.5 hours, covering a distance of approximately 6 kilometers (about 3.7 miles). It's a moderate hike with some uphill and downhill sections, offering plenty of opportunities to soak in the stunning views of the Amalfi Coast.

Hike the path of the gods

This scenic hiking trail offers breathtaking views of the coastline and the surrounding mountains. This hike typically takes about 3 to 4 hours to complete, covering a distance of approximately 7 to 8 kilometers (about 4.3 to 5 miles).
